Pre-meeting Event: Monterey Bay Aquarium 

Kick off the Spring Member Meeting with an afternoon at one of Monterey’s most iconic venues.

We’ll gather at the Monterey Bay Aquarium on historic Cannery Row—just minutes from the Portola Hotel—for networking, exploration, and a relaxed way to reconnect with colleagues before the week begins.

Perched right on the edge of the bay, the aquarium offers sweeping ocean views and a rare behind-the-scenes look at one of the most dynamic marine ecosystems in the world. 
Getting from the airport to Monterey
Rental cars are available at all three airports and are the easiest way to get around during your stay. Rideshare services and private shuttles are also available. Once you arrive, everything downtown—including the Portola Hotel, Cannery Row, and the aquarium—is close, walkable, and easy to navigate.

Getting to Monterey

Monterey is relatively easy to reach, whether you’re flying in from across California or across the country:
  • Fly into Monterey (MRY): Monterey Regional Airport is the most convenient option—just a 10-minute drive from downtown and the Portola Hotel. MRY offers direct flights from several major hubs, with easy connections through United, American, and Alaska.
  • Fly into San Jose (SJC): San Jose International Airport is about a 1–1.5 hour drive south and typically offers the widest range of nonstop flights and schedules. It’s a popular choice if you’re coming from the East Coast or need more flexibility.
  • Fly into San Francisco (SFO): San Francisco International is about 2 hours north of Monterey and offers the most nonstop options. From SFO, you can rent a car and enjoy a scenic drive down Highway 1 or 101.
